Security officials in western Afghanistan say at least 34 people were killed and around 17 others injured after a passenger bus was hit by a roadside bomb on a highway between the cities of Herat and Kandahar.

Germany Refuses to Join US Naval Mission in Strait of Hormuz

Germany has rejected the U.S. call to join an international mission to protect maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States had asked Germany to join France and Britain in a mission to secure shipping through the strait, the narrow maritime passage through which international tankers transport at least a fifth of the world's crude oil supply.

In innovative partnership, factory will produce plastic bricks to build classrooms for children

UNICEF, in partnership with Colombian social enterprise Conceptos Plasticos, announced it had broken ground on a first-of-its-kind factory that will convert plastic waste collected in Côte d'Ivoire into modular plastic bricks on July 29, 2019. The easy-to-assemble, durable, low-cost bricks will be used to build much needed classrooms in the West African country.
