The Guardian reports: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated on June 1 that he would not agree to end the Israel-Hamas war unless Hamas was completely eradicated, sparking international doubts about the ceasefire proposal put forth by U.S. President Biden on May 31.

Biden proposed a three-phase framework and hostage deal in Gaza on May 31 at the White House, hoping to end the nearly 8-month-long Gaza conflict. However, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on June 1 that the Gaza conflict would not end until Hamas was rooted out. Within the Israeli security cabinet, the far-right Minister of Defense and Finance also expressed opposition to the agreement.
Family members of Israeli hostages protested in Tel Aviv on June 1, demanding that Prime Minister Netanyahu accept U.S. President Biden’s three-phase ceasefire agreement in Gaza, to reunite their loved ones with them as soon as possible.

"It's time to start a new phase," said U.S. President Biden. The three-phase ceasefire proposal in Gaza by President Biden on May 31: the first phase is a comprehensive and complete ceasefire for 6 weeks, with the IDF withdrawing from all densely populated areas in Gaza and Hamas releasing elderly women and injured hostages. The second phase involves negotiations between Israel and Hamas on permanently ending hostilities, with Hamas releasing all hostages and returning some bodies of those killed. The third phase involves the reconstruction of Gaza.

Hamas has responded that he will actively consider it, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a statement that negotiators have been authorized to propose the release of hostages but reiterated that the Gaza war will not end until all hostages are released and Hamas is eliminated.

Among the members of the Israeli security cabinet, the far-right National Security Minister Ben-Gvir, posted on the social platform, saying the agreement proposed by the U.S. is reckless, and the Gaza war will not end until Hamas is completely eradicated. Ben-Gvir also threatened to overthrow the coalition government if Netanyahu accepted the ceasefire agreement without overthrowing Hamas.
