Representatives from 83 Countries Discuss Ukraine Peace Plan
In an effort to find common ground on a peace proposal for Ukraine, more than 80 countries began their fourth discussion in Switzerland on the 14th of this month. However, the co-host country, Switzerland, admitted that the long-term goal is for Russia to participate in the talks as well.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, was held from the 15th to the 19th of this month, and Ukraine took the opportunity to meet with 83 countries in Davos on the 14th of this month to discuss its peace proposal. Officials from the BRIC countries, such as India, Brazil, and South Africa, which are close to Russia, were present, which is considered to be a positive sign, but China did not participate; the Swiss officials who attended the meeting said that after all, China is still influential, and that it is necessary to find out the ways to cooperate with China.
On the other hand, the UK signed a 10-year security cooperation agreement with Ukraine on the 12th, promising to be the "first to support" Ukraine in case of another invasion until the last minute before Ukraine successfully joins NATO. The UK, one of Ukraine's close allies, will provide Ukraine with 2.5 billion pounds in military aid in the new year, about NT$99 billion, the largest UK budget for Ukraine since the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The Kremlin rejected the plan and was not invited to the previous meeting.
