The Afghan War Enters a Long-Term Conflict Phase
Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), said on January 1 that the war between Israel and Hamas will continue throughout 2024; the Israeli army has already begun to withdraw some of its garrison from the Gaza Corridor in preparation for the next phase of the conflict.
Daniel Hagari pointed out that preparations are being made to fulfill the objectives of the war, which will require a long-term struggle, and that the 551st and 14th Brigades, which are currently composed of reservists, have been withdrawn, while the rest of the army will continue its training and preparations. This measure will ease Israel's economic burden and build up its strength for the upcoming new conflict.
Senior U.S. officials have warned Israel against destructive tactics and that more must be done to limit civilian casualties.
