Leader of South Korea's Largest Opposition Party, Lee Nak-yon, Attacked in Busan
Yonhap News Agency reports that Lee Jae-myung, the leader of South Korea's largest opposition party, the United Democratic Party, was attacked while attending an event in Busan today.
At around 10:33 a.m. on the same day, when Lee Jae-myung finished his tour of the new airport and was having a question-and-answer session with reporters, a man approached him and asked for his autograph. Just as Lee was about to sign the autograph, the man took out a weapon he was carrying and swung it at Lee's neck.
The unidentified man wore a "I am Lee Jae-myung" crown on his head and attacked Lee Jae-myung after pretending to be a supporter and approaching him. Lee Jae-myung is now known to be conscious, and the man was arrested by police at the scene.
