Poland's politics are in turmoil, and after a heated election process, Donald Tusk, the successor of the pro-European Union faction, has been elected as Poland's new prime minister, ending years of Conservative rule.

Poland's parliament endorsed Donald Tusk, the leader of the Civic Coalition, as prime minister on Nov. 11, interrupting the eight-year rule of the populist Law and Justice Party (PiS), which is expected to lead to a thawing of the country's relations with the European Union.

Tusk was supported by 248 MPs on November 11, while 201 MPs voted against him. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Tusk said he would work to promote Poland's active participation in European affairs and strengthen cooperation with the European Union in order to build a more stable and prosperous Poland. He pointed out that modern society is facing many challenges, including climate change, economic uncertainty and international security issues, which require global cooperation.

The rise of the new Polish government has attracted the attention of the international community, with countries congratulating Tusk and expressing their expectations that under his leadership Poland will welcome a more positive and open international image.
