Mount Merapi in Indonesia Erupts
Indonesia West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Merapi volcano (Marapi) erupted a few days ago (3), the Indonesian rescue team actively launched a search and rescue, found the remains of 11 mountaineers, 3 mountaineers survived, there are still 12 mountaineers unaccounted for.
Mount Merapi is 2,891 meters high and it was raining when it erupted. Hundreds of Indonesian rescue workers raced against the clock, braving further eruptions and bad weather to conduct rescue operations and search for the dozen or so climbers who had disappeared after the eruption. About 70 climbers were on the mountain at the time. The volcano erupted while Zhafirah Zahrim Febrina, a 19-year-old university student in Indonesia, was hiking, and ash covered her body. Rescue workers said that Febrina has been free from the trap smoothly down the mountain, but due to burns all over the body is quite weak, is currently in the hospital for treatment.
Padang Search and Rescue Agency operations department head Hendri said that in addition to the personnel who have already stayed in the area, about 200 more personnel will be deployed this morning. Hendri said the volcano is still erupting, and visibility is extremely poor, rescue workers in the possible circumstances, trying to walk to the top of the volcano search and rescue, search and rescue operations will continue for seven days.
