Hamas Releases Third Batch of Detainees, 4-Year-Old American Girl Held for 50 Days Released
On the third day of the Israeli-Palestinian truce, Hamas and Israel once again exchanged prisoners and released each other's hostages, this time releasing 17 hostages, including a 4-year-old girl, followed by Israel's release of 39 Palestinian prisoners. The Israelis and Palestinians originally agreed to a four-day ceasefire from the 24th to the 28th, and it has been confirmed that the truce will be extended until the morning of the 30th, and that both sides will continue to release hostages and prisoners.
In response, Biden said that the girls have experienced unimaginable and horrific trauma, and that he will do his utmost to assist with resettlement and follow-up counseling, while doing his utmost to facilitate the extension of the Israeli-Palestinian truce to ensure the safe release of more hostages and the continued provision of humanitarian relief to Gaza.
Mark Regev, an adviser to the Israeli prime minister, said that while the two sides have reached an agreement to extend the truce for two days, it will not take effect until the hostages are confirmed to be released on the 27th, according to which Hamas will release 10 hostages a day for each of the next two days.
