India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue
Strengthening Cooperation to Safeguard Indo-Pacific Security
India, the U.S., Australia and Japan are members of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, and Washington wants to strengthen defense ties with India and move away from military dependence on Russia.
In the India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, the Ministers exchanged views on the situation in the Indo-Pacific, South Asia, West Asia and Ukraine, reaffirming their commitment to work together in the multilateral arena and to support the South. The agenda covered how to advance the bilateral strategic partnership in areas ranging from defense, space and technology, future logistics cooperation, and people-to-people relations.
The two sides also talked about the storm over the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, which led to a deterioration in India-Canada relations, and said the U.S. hoped that India would cooperate with Canada in investigating and resolving the disagreement, according to Blinken.
India has revealed that the two countries are discussing an agreement for the supply of fighter engines, drones and other equipment from the US to India.
