In Parliament this week: UK referendum, Israel, Palestine, terrorism, taxes
Parliament's political leaders discuss the outcome of the UK referendum on the country's EU membership on Friday morning. In addition the presidents of Israel and Palestine address the plenary in Brussels, the civil liberties votes on plans to make checks on all people leaving and entering the EU mandatory and to make preparing a terrorist attack a crime throughout the EU. In addition Parliament's tax rulings committee adopts its final report.
UK referendum on EU membership
Parliament President Martin Schulz and the political group leaders hold a meeting on Friday morning to discuss the outcome of the UK's referendum on EU membership, followed by a press conference.
Later that day Schulz discusses the result of the referendum with European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin addresses Parliament in a formal sitting on Wednesday at 15.00 CET, while the following day Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian National Authority, speaks in plenary at 11.00 CET.
MEPs debate new rules for deciding which EU country should handle death or divorce cases involving international married couples or registered partnerships on Wednesday and vote on them the next day.
The vote on the appointment of 65 MEPs from all political groups to the Panama papers inquiry committee takes place on Thursday.
Committees
The civil liberties committee votes Tuesday on a draft law making the preparation of terrorist attacks a crime throughout the EU as well as on proposals to make checks on EU citizens entering and leaving the EU mandatory. This is already the case for people from outside the EU.
Parliament's special tax rulings committee votes on its final report on Tuesday. The mandate for the committee, which followed up on the work of the first special committee on this topic, was approved for six months last December. During the March plenary MEPs decided to extend this until 2 August.
