Bosnia and Herzegovina: monitoring visit | WPN World People News

The co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Egidijus Vareikis (Lithuania, EPP/CD) and Sir Roger Gale (United Kingdom, EC), are to make a fact-finding visit to the country from 13 to 17 June 2016, holding meetings in Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka.

In Sarajevo, they are due to meet leading members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina government and parliament – as well as the Ombudsman institution and representatives of judges and prosecutors, journalists and NGOs. Meetings are also foreseen with the High Representative, the head of the EU delegation, and diplomats based in the city.

In Mostar and Banja Luka, they will meet leading members of the authorities and parliaments of both Entities, as well as party representatives and Mayors. They will also visit one of the “two schools under one” in Stolac

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of nine Council of Europe member States subject to the Assembly’s monitoring procedure,* which involves ongoing dialogue with the authorities, regular reports and occasional debates on a state’s progress in honouring its obligations and commitments to the Organisation.
