Anne Brasseur calls for calm following Turkish electoral rally explosions
Anne Brasseur, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has joined the appeals for calm following explosions at a rally of the HDP party on June 5 in Diyarbakir.
"My thoughts are first and foremost with the victims and their families," said Ms Brasseur.
"This incident, whatever its cause, must not be allowed to disrupt peaceful campaigning or interfere with the holding of free and fair elections tomorrow," she continued. "The authorities must show their commitment to this process by instigating a prompt and thorough investigation of the cause of these explosions, and then taking all necessary further action."
