Report: US Population Report: US Population Grows to More Than 320 MillionGrows to More Than 320 Million
The Census Bureau said the U.S. population grew a bit less than 1 percent over the last year and will hit 320,090,857 at New Year.
The U.S. population is growing because there is one birth every eight seconds and one international migrant arrives every 33 seconds. That outpaces U.S. deaths, which occur every 11 seconds.
The United States has the third highest population in the world but lags far behind China, which has 1.36 billion people, and India, at 1.25 billion.
U.S. Census experts estimate the total world population will be 7.21 billion at the turn of the new year.
