Participants discussed recent detention cases and the fate of South Ossetian prisoners in Georgian prisons. The issue of a missing truck that had been discussed at previous meetings was successfully resolved. Participants reviewed incidents since the last IPRM, in particular the shooting incident that took place near Koda on 2 December. The importance of all sides giving early notification of military movements and military exercises was once again stressed.

Ambassador Tyszkiewicz, the head of EUMM, requested leniency in the upcoming holiday season for those wishing to visit relatives and religious sites across or near the Administrative Boundary Line.

Participants expressed appreciation for the work of Ambassador Pádraig Murphy, the Irish OSCE chairmanship’s outgoing Special Representative for the South Caucasus, and welcomed Mr Andrii Deshchytsia, Special Representative of the incoming OSCE chairmanship.

The meeting was held in a business-like atmosphere.
