Islamic group attacked church-goers
The Nigerian militant Islamic sect Boko Haram has admitted responsibility for two church attacks on Sunday.
On a conference call to reporters in Nigeria, a spokesman for the group said the attacks had been carried out because of its fight to establish a strict Islamic state.
Three people were killed forty wounded during the killings which took place in the central city of Jos and in the city of Biu.
In Jos, which is in an area that divides the country's Muslim north and Christian south, a suicide bomber detonated his car outside the church.
In Biu, in northeastern Borno state, gunmen opened fire on the congregation.
Boko Haram, a radical sect which has been deemed responsible for many similar attacks, does not recognize Nigeria's government which administers a country divided roughly between Muslims and Christians.
