UK reservists readying for army cuts
The UK military is to remove some career soldiers from its ranks as it relies more on reservists.
The military's annual budget for reserve forces will be pushed over the $2.8 billion mark over the next ten years as entire units are cut.
UK troop figures are expected to diminish by 20,000.
The British defence department announced on Friday the cuts were being mooted in an effort to reduce the government's massive deficit.
Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said some units would inevitably be lost or would merge.
He said the army would have to consider how to be more innovate in supplying combat service personnel and would need to take more advantage of reservists and contractors.
