A petition has been filed in Pakistan's Supreme Court to restrain authorities from constructing huge buildings and secret bunkers in the basement of the U.S. Embassy.

The petition, which was filed by Lt Col (r) Inamul Rahim, under Article 199 of the Constitution through Tariq Asad, has made the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman; interior, foreign affairs and defence secretaries and US Embassy management respondents.

He stated that the U.S. Government is aimed at weakening Pakistan and destroying/taking over possession of its atomic assets, the Daily Times reports.

He requested the court to withdraw the land provided to the U.S. Embassy beyond its needs.

He said that after the allotment of more land to the U.S. Embassy, its total area would increase up to 56 acres, which is "more than White House that occupies 51 acres of land".

The petitioner said that the plan and design of the buildings to be constructed should be reconsidered through a panel of engineers, which should be nominated by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and Council of Architects and Town Planners.

"The U.S. has already raised the level of its manpower to such an extent as if a mini state is being constructed in our state," he said, adding, "the U.S. was expanding its mission in the embassy compound by spending more than 1 billion dollars on its construction".

The petitioner said that the Americans wanted to build a seven-floor building, which could house 7,000 US personnel.
