German demonstrators show anger in Frankfurt march
Twenty thousand demonstrators took to the streets of Frankfurt on Saturday in a protest against government austerity measures and the gap between rich and poor.
As part of an anti-capitalist movement, the march went ahead even though authorities had not fully approved it.
The German austerity measures, aimed at dealing with the eurozone debt crisis, are unpopular
among activists who want to block the measures.
As the marchers took to the streets, police closed the roads leading to the European Central Bank building.
The ECB has already spent a trillion euros to try to stem the money crisis in Europe.
While police stood on the sidelines, the progress of the march was peaceful.
Some demonstrators said they were there to support people who did not have good health or enough to eat.
