Iran says Baghdad safe for upcoming nuclear meeting: official
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Affairs Abbas Araghchi has said that Baghdad is safe for upcoming nuclear meeting of Iran and the major powers of the world.
Tehran completely trusts Iraq to provide security in the upcoming talks between Iran and Britain, France, Russia, China and the United States, plus Germany (G51), Araghchi said according to local satellite Press TV.
"We believe that Iraqi officials are capable of organizing the meeting between Iran and the G51 properly just as they organized several summits such as the Arab League summit," Araghchi was quoted as saying.
The last round of nuclear talks between Iran and the UN Security Council's five permanent members-the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China-plus Germany (G51) concluded in Turkey's Istanbul in April, with all sides describing the talks as positive and agreeing to meet again in the Iraqi capital on May 23.
