Senior al-Qaeda man killed in Yemen
A senior al-Qaeda leader, wanted in connection with the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole warship, has been killed in a Yemen air raid.
The Sunday attack, which occurred over the seaport city of Aden, took the life of Fahd al-Quso.
Officials in Yemen said he, along with another al-Qaeda operative, was hit by a guided missile.
Al-Qaeda confirmed the death of al-Quso in statements to the press.
Al-Quso had a US$5 million reward on his head.
He had been charged with involvement in bombing of the USS Cole on October 12, 2000.
The attack killed 17 US sailors.
