Two more disaster recovery centers opened Monday to help those whose homes or businesses were affected by recent storms and tornadoes.

Sites in Jackson and Morgan counties will operate from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and will close permanently as noted.

Jackson County
Flat Rock Community Center
662 County Road 326
Flat Rock, Ala. 35966
*This center will close Wednesday May 18 at 7 p.m.

Morgan County
Tri-County Fire Department
12132 Highway 67 South
Joppa, Ala. 35087
*This center will close Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m.

Representatives from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other agencies will staff the centers to explain disaster assistance programs and help survivors in the recovery process.

Survivors can find the closest center by using the online disaster recovery center locator at http://www.fema.gov/drclocator. They can also call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-FEMA (3362), which is the same number to register for disaster assistance.

Before going to a recovery center, survivors are encouraged to register with FEMA by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Help is available in most languages. Those with a speech or hearing impairment may call (TTY) 800-462-7585.

Persons affected by the storms can also apply for federal assistance through a Web-enabled mobile device or smartphone. Visit m.fema.gov and follow the link to “apply online for federal assistance.”

FEMA Individual Assistance may include grants for rental assistance and home repairs. SBA may provide low-interest loans to individuals, renters and businesses.
