Bid to smuggle narcotics foiled in Dubai
Authorities in Dubai have foiled a bid to smuggle 1.57 kg of crystal narcotics brought in by a passenger from an African country.
A customs inspector at the Dubai International Airport checked the baggage of the suspect and found secret pockets containing the contraband.
During interrogation, the passenger denied knowledge of the contents of the baggage. He said he was asked to deliver it to some people in an Asian country, according to Ali Al Mugahwi, Director of Airport Operations at Dubai Customs.
Mugahwi clarified that crystal narcotics contain Methamphetamine which activates the nervous system and has many forms like ice cubes or glass. It can be consumed in cigarettes or pipes. It can also be mixed in water and injected through needles and can also be ground and then inhaled or swallowed.
