Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has urged both India and Pakistan to take lessons from European countries, who have realised that neighbours can not be changed, and talks were the only available option to resolve all outstanding issues.

Speaking during a function here, Hussain said that despite the talks between Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad having yielded nothing substantial with both countries staying firm on their stands, New Delhi and Islamabad should continue talking to each other.

"We should accept each other as neighbours, as well as discuss the core issues for their settlement," The Daily Times quoted Hussain, as saying.

"We appreciate bilateral talks between the two countries even though they concluded without any positive outcome, but they should continue," he added.

Speaking on domestic politics, he blasted the leaders who supported the passage of the anti-media resolution in the Punjab Assembly, and demanded it's immediate withdrawal.

He also asked parliamentarians to maintain the dignity of the house.

"I condemn the language used by some parliamentarians in Punjab Assembly against the media," Hussain said. (ANI)
