Philippines capital targeted by typhoon
A massive typhoon has raged through Philippines towns and the capital Manila.
The terrifying Typhoon Conson hit the South East Asian archipelago late on Tuesday, taking with it shanty towns and causing widespread blackouts.
The typhoon killed at least 20 people as it whipped the main island of Luzon throughout the night with wind gusts of 120 kilometres per hour.
Sixty others were reported missing.
Flimsy slum homes and shanty towns near Manila were swept away entirely, along with their inhabitants.
Those who were left behind have had to scavenge for materials to buid new shelters.
While 20 or so typhoons sweep through the country each year, killing hundreds of people, Typhoon Conson took many people in Manila by surprise due to the weather service saying the typhoon would touch down a lot further north.
