California State Senator Dave Cortese, one of the ringers of the Bell of World Peace and Love, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. Hong Tao-Tze, Tai Ji Men zhang-men-ren. In his speech, he stated, “ I want to thank your organization for standing for peace and harmony, and all good things like compassion in the world”. He also mentioned, “ I have come here a few times to….thank everyone for the work you do, but also to stand with you and so that you know that your state senator, representing this area in Sacramento, recognizes your work, encourages your work, and I'll continue to do that in the future”.
Santa Clara Vice Mayor Kevin Park expressed his delight in being able to participate in Tai Ji Men's event. He stated, “This is the kind of center that every community needs. It takes care of not just the old but the young and everyone in between. I don't know if people know about how we look at social structures within cities. But there is this thought that if we can handle people who are eight and 80, then we can handle everyone. And I think that this is one of the places that people go, not just for community, but also to learn. And I feel that if we had more of these kinds of centers, there'd be a lot fewer people with no sense of direction, we'd get direction, and we'd have community.Thank you very much for 22 years of this kind of work in the community. I'm very proud. I'm also going to say I'm inspired. I would love to continue and build on these kinds of efforts everywhere and within other communities, too.”

Fremont City Councilmember Yang Shao, who also attended last year's Tai Ji Men Anniversary celebration, mentioned “Dr. Hong has been recognized again and again, by the US president, as well as many other dignitaries in the world. And…your activities have already spread the love and happiness to over 200 countries in the world. That's very impressive. I'm here, to also try to praise your organization for helping the community really restore and enhance the health, especially the mental health, after the pandemic, because after all, in the Silicon Valley, where everyone is under great pressure, and still under the lingering influence of the pandemic, we still need to continue to promote mental health, happy families, and healthy community. So thank you again, and I look forward to working with you in the future to help build our community better.”
In his congratulatory speech, Dr. Hong Tao-Tze, zhang-men-ren of Tai Ji Men, pointed out, “In this post-epidemic era, people need a healthy body and mind to cope with the rapid changes in the general environment. Implementation of good deeds of conscience are needed to help the world maintain its positive energy. I hope that everyone will rely on their conscience, always keep a calm and quiet heart, develop great wisdom, and use love as the driving force to unite the hearts of the world for the well-being of all mankind and a more sustainable future!”
Patrick Burt, the former mayor and current city councilmember of Palo Alto, recorded a special video to congratulate Tai Ji Men Cupertino on its 22nd birthday, and expressed appreciation for Tai Ji Men’s efforts in building the community, in particular with working with youths who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic over the past few years, helping them build social and moral strength. He also appreciates Tai Ji Men’s broad definition of international relationships. In today's world, we need to have a stronger understanding of each other and work together to support each other.
California Bay Area newcomer Damon Tsai (far right) and his family share their positive experiences of practicing qigong at Tai Ji Men.
Damon Tsai, whose whole family practices qigong in Tai Ji Men, immigrated to California from Taiwan just this month. Growing up in Tai Ji Men, he not only practiced qigong to keep his body healthy, he also learned how to think positive and have an optimistic outlook on life. It’s just like choosing a good school district for her daughter, Tai Ji Men is a “good school district” for their family. Damon’s wife, Kiki, learned mutual respect, the courage to express ideas, and the ability to reflect on herself when she did something wrong, which enabled her to maintain a good parent-child relationship with her daughter.
The Cupertino academy invited friends and family who attended the celebration to make the five treasure fortune bags together. The bags are filled with beans of five different colors, each representing one of the five treasures - health, wealth, wisdom, happiness and joy. On that day, a special golden bell and wishing tree were set up, allowing all guests to write down their wishes on their cards, ring the golden bell to make their wish come true, and hang their wish cards on the wishing tree. The tree symbolizes a protective shield which protects everyone in the world.
