What kind of sports activity will have the legendary celestial creatures make their appearance? Tai Ji Men has just won the front page in German media with its performance in the prologue of 2017 Universiade and presented another cultural festival at the Banqiao Stadium, New Taipei City, at 3:00 pm on Saturday 26 August 2017. The 9-minute presentation in the prologue of Universiade was once again performed. What even more excited was the rarely-seen 144-meter long dragons in green and gold colors and many other celestial creatures including phoenixes, lions and qilins (Chinese unicorns) were also shown in the festival to bring blessings. In the center of the site, the magnificent Tai Ji Men Dragon-Phoenix Drums, weighing 500 kilograms with 1.7 meters in length are there sitting beside the Bell of World Peace and Love. Zheng-men-ren (grand master) of Tai Ji Men, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, also the host, stated in his opening remark: “I would like to thank all our honored guests and good friends for your support of Tai Ji Men over the past years. Qigong and martial arts are mankind’s oldest forms of sports. Tai Ji Men is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Taoism and endowed with the beautiful culture of Tao. Tai Ji Men has stood the test of time and we continue to uphold the core principles of martial arts and Tao practitioners. We bravely confront all challenges and exercise wisdom to overcome difficulties. My dizi and I have been dedicated to the preservation of the cultural essence of Tai Ji Men. We would like to share the beautiful culture with the world to purify the hearts of people and elevate the core of life. Heart is endowed with unlimited power. Within everyone’s heart is a hope and vision for a harmonious world. When we all put this prayer into action, real blessings will fall upon us.”

Taipei City Government presented certificate of appreciation to recognize Tai Ji Men for their contributions to cultural preservation and facilitation of civilian diplomacy.

The Tai Ji Men Martial Arts and Cultural Festival is a contrast of ancient versus modern against the Universiade. Both are the demonstrations of the pursuit of excellence and realization of potentiality. Qigong and marital arts are the ancient forms of sports and have also been traditional Chinese sports for thousands of years. Tai Ji Men, a qigong marital arts group, has been invited to present the artistic presentation of martial arts in a peaceful way in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. In 2001, the group then won 4 gold medals of internal boxing, external boxing, weaponry, qigong in the 8th World Cup International Martial Arts Championship. Special honor of group presentation and outstanding contribution also went to Tai Ji Men in the same tournament. Tai Ji Men has been passed down in a cultural format of a Shifu and dizi (disciples). For years, the Shifu and dizi have been dedicated to the preservation of traditional cultures and promotion of cultural exchanges, which is a part of the soft power of Taiwan widely recognized by international community.

This martial arts and cultural festival gathered celestial creatures. The golden dragon, green dragon, golden phoenixes, purple phoenixes, lions, qilins, white peacocks and blue peacocks came across the heaven to send good wishes to the participants. Tai Ji Men dizi demonstrated the spirits of celestial creatures with heart and solid foundation of years of qigong practice and heart cultivation. The noble, kindness, mercy, and joy have been delivered in peace and harmony. Distinguished guests were invited to wave the 5-color flags symbolizing waving flags to turn around the destiny of the world.

The highlight of the festival was the presentation Tai Ji Men did in the prologue of 2017 Universiade. The Tai Ji Tactical Formation, performed by 268 Tai Ji Men dizi, exposed the ancient deployment of formations. Flags, knives, swords, sticks and many other weapons were constantly moving in formations delivering overwhelming energies.

The unique festival demonstrated the vitality of Taiwanese people. Representatives from different corners of Taiwan entered the stadium in an orderly fashion delivering local cultural presentations. International friends and overseas Taiwanese sent greetings from over 30 nations including the U.S., Ireland, Myanmar, and Mexico. The Global Campaign for Good Fortune was launched with participants making good wishes with their cell phone and uploading online to wish for a harmonious world.
