Eat your way around English leg of Tour de France
Social media campaign launched to promote Protected Food Names produced on the route
We are celebrating the Grand Depart of the Tour de France on Saturday with a graphic highlighting some of the British Protected Food Name foods that are produced in the areas where the route passes through.
On the route you can find producers of protected cheeses Swaledale Cheese, Yorkshire Wensleydale, Dovedale blue, and Beacon Fell Traditional Lancashire, as well as Fenland Celery, Newmarket Sausage, and Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb. To find out more about these foods and to find out which Protected Food Names are in your region, look at our map of Protected Food Names in the UK
The scheme protects food names based on their heritage and unique qualities. Protected Food Names help British businesses grow as carrying these quality marks makes it easier to sell products around the world.
