The Olympic Flame was taken to the top of the London Eye on Sunday as the London 2012 Torch Relay continues its journey around the British capital ahead of the Games.

Torchbearer Amelia Hempleman-Adams, who at 16 became the youngest person to ski to the South Pole, carried the Flame on top of one of the observation wheel's capsules at the start of day 65 of the 70-day Relay.

"It was a once in a lifetime experience, especially as the Olympics are in London,” she said afterwards. “It makes it more special."

The Flame then travelled through the London Boroughs of Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Bexley.

On its way it visited Redbridge Cycling Centre – a new state-of-the-art facility that is being used as a Games-time training venue for athletes. After the Games, it will provide a legacy for the community.

The Flame also visited Valentines Mansion, Barking Park Miniature Railway and was carried across Fairlop Lake in a sailing boat and across the River Thames in a London Fire Brigade Fireboat.

Torchbearers on the day included former Olympic boxing champion Lennox Lewis and street dance troupe Diversity.
