2012-07-22

2012 is the year of Shakespeare. Throughout the year festivals, performances, events and exhibitions are being held around the world to remember arguably the greatest English playwright of all time William Shakespeare.

London is hosting numerous events including a performance of King Lear, one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies. The performance is being brought to Islington's Almeida Theatre by Michael Attenborough, son of actor Richard Attenborough, and the title role is being portrayed by award-winning actor Richard Pryce.

The Almeida Theatre is the most critically praised theatre in the UK . It has achieved 14 West End transfers in 12 years and tickets should be booked well in advance, especially for a play as hotly anticipated as Michael Attenborough's King Lear.

The play runs from 31 August through to 3 November and tickets are priced at £8 through to £32. Matinee performances are held from 15 September onwards.

The Almeida Theatre is located just off attractive, trendy Upper Street and it's just a short tube journey from King's Cross. There are many hotels near Kings Cross, but for visitors to the capital they may not all be easy to find and/or locate.
