Apology received for Bush head-on-stake scene
Producers from the US television show "Game of Thrones" have apologised for putting a prosthetic head of former US President George W Bush on a spike.
A scene with Bush's severed head was first broadcast in 2011 on the HBO network.
It was also featured on the DVD release.
Bush's head was featured, along with many other heads on spikes.
Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series adapted from a series of fantasy novels by of George R. R. Martin.
In the DVD commentary, producers Dan Weiss and David Benioff identified the head as being based on a likeness of Bush.
Weiss and Benioff have apologized to the former president, saying: "We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W Bush. We meant no disrespect to the former president and apologise if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."
A spokesman for HBO has also apologised, saying: "We find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste."
