Civilians pay the price of the new wave of violence in the Central African Republic

Over the past two weeks, the civilian population has paid the price of the resurgence of violence in various prefectures. Humanitarian actors have not been spared either. On 15 May, an exchange of fire between an armed group and national security forces in Bambari, Ouaka Prefecture led to looting of the premises of four NGOs whose staff was physically assaulted.

Central Asian Youth Talks and Model OSCE concludes in Tajikistan

The Central Asian Youth Talks and Model OSCE for 34 young people from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe from 10 to 15 May 2018 in Dushanbe and in the town of Romit north east of Dushanbe. During these events, participants discussed modern security challenges and the role of youth in addressing them.

Auditors identify challenges to integration of migrants in EU

The European Court of Auditors has identified a number of challenges to the integration of migrants from outside the EU into society where further EU action is needed. The challenges are set out in a new Briefing Paper on EU action to support the integration of those living legally in the EU but without EU citizenship, such as people migrating for the purposes of employment, family reunification or research, asylum seekers and refugees. The briefing paper does not cover people residing illegally in the EU.
