Representatives of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) have met the Mayor of Benghazi AbdelRahman el-Abbar, to discuss how best WFP and the United Nations can provide support to the country.

The World Food Programme (WFP) welcomed a new contribution of AUD 5 million from the Government of Australia to provide food assistance for people affected by drought in Afghanistan on Jul 18, 2018. This brings Australia’s total contribution to WFP’s operations in Afghanistan to AUD15 million in 2018.
