Britain to help 6.5 million girls in poor countries go to school

The UK will help 6.5 million girls in the world’s poorest countries get a decent education over the next 5years.

Speaking at the Global Citizen Festival, a major festival in Central Park featuring world leaders, activists and celebrities, UK International Development Secretary Justine Greening said:

“For me the big step forward in the global goals is goal five, women and girls and gender equality.

The UK has launched a new drive to tear down the barriers stopping women in the world’s poorest countries from getting jobs, helping thousands to lift themselves out of poverty.
