The structure proposed in this research shows effective catalytic activity for the environmental compatible oxidation of various sulfides to both types of sulfoxide and sulfone at room temperature. Sulfoxide is known as a valuable intermediate in the production of useful compounds such as antibacterial, anti-fungi, anti-wound and anti-blood pressure agents. Many researches have also been carried out on sulfones due to their biological activity.

Production of cost-effective optical products, increasing the production efficiency, and decreasing environmental pollutions are among the advantages of using the catalyst.

Among the other advantages of the nanocatalyst, mention can be made of lack of the formation of side reactions, low reaction time, mild reaction conditions, and simple performance. The cost-effective catalyst is synthesized easily and can be used a few times without losing activity by using external magnetic field.

Researches show that placement of the catalyst on iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles creates an extended catalytic area. This characteristic is the main reason for the high performance of the catalyst, selectivity and high optical properties of the product. It also results in the least possible environmental pollution due to the easy separation from the environment.
