The use of such nanolayers resulted in a three-time increase in the performance of the nanosensor. Hydrogen peroxide has many applications in enzyme reactions, biological reactions, clinical controls, and so forth.

"The main purpose of this study was to increase the sensitivity and to decrease the limits of detection (LOD) by using nanotechnology. Therefore, silver nanoparticles were placed on the surface of a polymeric electro-active nanolayer, and the results were compared with those obtained from similar samples," Dr. Mohammad Reza Mahmoudian from Masjed Soleiman Branch of Islamic Azad University said.

Results of the experiments showed that as the accessible surface of nanoparticles placed on the nanolayer increased and the accumulation of nanoparticles decreased, the catalytic role of silver increased in the reduction reaction of hydrogen peroxide, and therefore, the sensitivity of the nanosensor increased. Among other advantages of the nanosensor, mention can be made of its high efficiency and its simple production procedure. The use of such nanolayers resulted in a three-time increase in the performance of the nanosensor.

The research has been carried out with the cooperation of Prof. Jeffery Wan Basirun and Prof. Yatimah Alias from University of Malaya as well as Dr. Mehdi Ebadi from Gorgan Branch of Islamic Azad University.
