Situation Report #3 on Severe Weather
Scattered storms are expected to continue today with strong storms this evening with possible heavy rain this evening across southern Wisconsin. The State Emergency Operations Center remains open to monitor the flooding situation. There has been no request for state assistance. Below is the latest information.
Milwaukee County – The Mayor of South Milwaukee has declared a State of Emergency as a result of the flooding. Mitchell Field remains closed until later this morning. Local officials are reporting numerous power outages. A Red Cross shelter was opened in Oak Creek. Whitefish Bay Village Hall sustained substantial damage due to flooding. Numerous roads are closed due to flooding.
Racine County - Racine County Sheriff reports that water is starting to collect on I-94 at Highway G in the northbound lanes.
Walworth County - Widespread power outage mostly northern portion of county including part of the county jail.. Numerous trees and wires down especially in northwest corner of county making many roads impassable. Receiving reports of flooding in some homes.
City of Milwaukee: The State Office Building at 819 N 6th Street is closed due to flooding. Employees are advised to contact their supervisor for further details. There are numerous reports of flooding. Two individuals were struck by lightning. No reports of any fatalities. All beaches will be closed through Sunday.
