International Fugitive Nazira Cross Apprehended in Peru | WPN World People News

Nazira Maria Cross, 48, wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was arrested by Peruvian National Police at her current residence in Peru in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 4, 2014.

Cross, a Costa Rican national, is wanted for the murder of her husband in Plumas County, California. In July 2008, Cross allegedly poisoned her ex-husband and then drove him to Nevada, where the couple owned a ranch, and buried him on the property. While waiting for the autopsy results, Cross fled and has remained a fugitive until her capture.

The United States has a pending extradition request for the return of Cross and will continue to work closely with the Peruvian Government authorities, in accordance with the extradition treaty with Peru, to ensure Cross’ return to face prosecution.

Cross’s federal fugitive poster has appeared on the Sacramento FBI’s website since 2008, when it was first distributed, and both domestic and international media has profiled the international search for Cross. Due to recent rebroadcast of information about Cross, the FBI received information indicating that Cross was residing in Peru. The Nevada State Attorney General’s Office, Plumas County District Attorney, Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, and Peruvian National Police all played vital roles in the apprehension of Cross.
