Man charged with importing methamphetamine in shampoo bottles
A joint operation has resulted in the arrest and charging of a Chinese national for importing methamphetamine concealed in shampoo bottles.
The operation began last month when intelligence collected by the Australian Crime Commission as part of Taskforce Eligo was provided to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS). The intelligence led Customs officers to intercept a mail package containing 11 shampoo and body lotion bottles.
The liquid in the bottles was examined and presumptively tested positive for methamphetamine. The exact weight and purity will be determined at a later date.
As a result of the interception, Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers arrested a 20-year-old Chinese national man in the Melbourne CBD yesterday (Friday) afternoon.
