Jesus M. Vazquez-Pizarro Arrested for Communicating Cyber Threats

On July 8, 2013, Jesus M. Vazquez-Pizarro was taken into custody by the FBI. Vazquez-Pizarro was charged with Title 18, USC 875(C) for transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce a communication containing a threat to injure the person of another.

A federal complaint states that on June 18, 2013, Twitter user @Jvazquez@jmvpyen posted the following messages to Twitter user @agarciapadilla:

1.“@agarciapadilla Senor Gobernador lo peror k a echo es joder kon el dinerodel pueblo no siga asiendo brutalidades k le puede kostar la vida”

This message translates to English as follows:

“@agarciapadilla Mr. Governor the worst thing dat u’ve don is f— with the people’s money don’t continue doing stupid things dat could cost you your life” [sic all]

2. “@agarciapadilla ustd anda en un 300c y yo enkojonau bien kbrn no signifik k no sea aprueba de bala no sea puerko sako d aki pa meter aka”

This message translates to English as follows:

“@garciapadilla U roll around in a 300C and I’m really f— pissed off it don’t mean dat it is bulletproof don’t be a pig taking from here to put over there” [sic all]

3. “Manana marcha alas 1 p.m....Mi reintegro o sekuetro al kbrn givernador. Y k. Venga kien kiera areglamarme por lo dicho se va amorir att yo”

This message translates to English as follows:

“Tomorrow it will go down at 1 p.m....My tax return or I will kidnap the f— governor and who ever comes to kueston for me for what I said is going to die. Sincrly me” [sic all]

If convicted, the defendant faces up to a maximum of five years’ imprisonment for transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce a communication containing a threat to injure the person of another.
