PACE rapporteur on the Syrian refugee crisis to visit Jordan and Lebanon
Annette Groth (Germany, UEL), who is preparing a report on a stronger European response to the Syrian refugees crisis for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), is to visit Jordan and Lebanon from 8 to 13 February 2016.
In Jordan (8-10 February), she is due to meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Planning and International Co-operation Minister, members of the parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and representatives of international organisations and NGOs working in the country, as well as visiting the Azraq, “Cyber City” and Jarash camps.
In Lebanon (10-12 February), Ms Groth is due to meet the Social Affairs Minister, members of the parliament’s Human Rights Committee and representatives of international organisations and NGOs working with refugees in the country. She will also visit an informal tented settlement in Saida and UN-run refugee facilities in Tyrus.
