Before you head out to The Fox Theater or Paramount Theater, stop by one of Oakland’s most popular bars in Uptown, SomaR Bar. Show the bartender your ticket and get two glasses of wine or beer for the price of one, or $2 off a specialty cocktail.

SomaR is a bar in Oakland that serves selected wines, beer, and quality liquor. Their signature cocktails are created by one of the owners, Mike Golondrina.
“Our most popular drinks include the SomaR Fizz, followed by the Lychee Martini,” says Mike from SomaR.

About The Fox Theater
The Fox Theater opened its door in October 1928 as a movie palace. For more than three decades, the Fox held its own as a first-run movie house. But the advent of television dealt a blow to the movie business. In 1966, the Fox closed its doors. Over the course of time, it escaped the wrecking ball more than once, but suffered fires, leaky roofs, decay and graffiti. Finally after 40 years, the Fox Theater re-opened its doors as a live music venue, arts school and restaurant.

About The Paramount Theater
Oakland’s Paramount Theatre opened in 1931 and is one of the finest remaining examples of Art Deco design in the United States. In September 1970, it closed but retained the name “Paramount.” After its initial brief blaze of "movie palace" glory in the 1930's, this remarkable auditorium suffered three decades of neglect and decline until its rescue by the Oakland Symphony, the City of Oakland and numerous private donors. Authentic restoration was completed in 1973. The Paramount Theatre is the home of the Oakland East Bay Symphony and, as one of the San Francisco Bay Area's premiere performing arts facilities, hosts a year-round schedule of popular music concerts, variety shows, theatre, and - of course - movies.
