Tentative signs of easing growth momentum in the OECD area
Composite leading indicators (CLIs), designed to anticipate turning points in economic activity relative to trend six to nine months ahead, are pointing tentatively to easing growth momentum in the OECD area as a whole.
The CLIs point to easing growth momentum in Canada and in the euro area as a whole, including Germany, France and Italy, as well as in the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, stable growth momentum remains the assessment for the United States and Japan.
Among major emerging economies, growth gaining momentum remains the assessment for the industrial sector in China and for India, while in Brazil and Russia the CLIsanticipateeasing growth momentum.
