EP this week: €315 bln investment plan, refugees and International Women’s Day
MEPs will this week focus on the €315 billion investment plan to boost growth in Europe, discussing with experts its three pillars: an investment fund, an advisory hub and a project pipeline. The foreign affairs committee will discuss the refugee situation in the Middle East with UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl, while the EP will also prepare for International Women's Day on Sunday and for next week's plenary session.
MEPs have another busy week ahead of them.
On Monday afternoon the economic affairs and budget committees hold a hearing with experts to discuss the €315 billion investment plan for Europe as proposed by the European Commission.
Also on Monday, Pierre Krähenbühl, the Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), will join a meeting of the foreign affairs committee to discuss the situation in the region and the funding of the UN agency.
In the run-up to International Women's Day on Sunday, the women's rights committee will on Thursday hold a meeting with members of national parliaments on education as a means to empower women. On Wednesday the Parliament will hold a seminar on the same theme for journalists with the help of MEPs and experts.
The development committee will hold a workshop on Monday on how to fight tax evasion in developing countries.
On Wednesday, the EP Science and Technology Options Assessment unit (STOA) will hold a workshop on Ebola, discussing with experts how to monitor, test and possibly vaccinate against the disease.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella visits the Parliament on Tuesday and his Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska on Wednesday.
