OECD annual inflation increases slightly to 1.7% in January 2014

Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 1.7% in the year to January 2014, compared with 1.6% in the year to December 2013. This slight increase in the annual rate of inflation was mainly driven by energy prices which increased by 2.1% in the year to January compared with 1.7% in the year to December. Food price inflation slowed to 1.4% in the year to January compared with 1.5% in the year to December. Excluding food and energy, the OECD annual inflation rate was stable at 1.6% in January.
