The Research Network (ResNet) Africa, running from 17-19 November, organised by Education International (EI), is providing a unique platform composed by high-level researchers for the exchange of information, ideas and projects that are mutually beneficial to EI African member organisations. ResNet Africa is an outgrowth of the EI ResNet meeting, whose primary purpose is the sharing of information and ideas between education unions.

“This meeting strongly underlines that through research African colleagues work to provide teachers and education unions in the region with the knowledge and policy tools they need to meet everyday challenges to public education systems,” said EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen. “They keep abreast of developments and trends across the education sector and assist unions in developing solid fact-based argumentation for education policy change, the advancement of equal access to quality education and fair working conditions for all teachers in Africa, and worldwide.”

The participants from the region are sharing their experiences of using surveys and qualitative interviewing to put reports together up to the national social dialogue table with public authorities.
