Organised by the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) and the Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US) on Sept. 28, the event brought together a variety of global players. Ed Gragert, Director of the GCE-US, developed the event to find out how organisations are planning to integrate the new goals into programming for teachers and students to build awareness, as well as create greater engagement in the 2030 development agenda.

Speaking on behalf of EI, Angelo Gavrielatos, Project Director of the Global Response to the Privatisation and Commercialisation in and of Education, reaffirmed that the education community must “commit to make the SDGs a reality for every child." He went on to emphasise that although the new goals should be celebrated, education leaders cannot lose sight of the threat that privatisation poses to public education today. Gavrielatos outlined how the Global Response will work to achieve Goal 4 to ‘Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.’

Joining EI at the podium was its affiliate the National Education Association (NEA), along with the US Department of Education, the InterAmerican Teacher Education Network (ITEN – OAS), European SchoolNet, and the IBM Foundation, which hosted the event.
