Flight delays become very expensive
Flight delays are causing financial damage to US passengers.
Researchers at UC Berkeley have found domestic flight delays put a $32.9 billion dent in pockets in 2007.
The Institute of Transportation Studies at the university has found that nearly half that cost of the delays was borne by consumers.
It has been estimated customers paid in extra time and money, in compensation for frequent airline delays.
For example, business travellers who flew early rather than running the risk of arriving late, had to book an extra night’s accommodation.
