Enterprise Mobility: Google Nexus One Redesign: 10 Features It Must Have to Compete with Apple`s iPhone

2010-08-05

Google announced this month that the Nexus One, the company’s first smartphone, which it developed with HTC, is being discontinued. Ostensibly, the smartphone didn’t perform as well as Google would have liked, and the company feels that it’s better to cut its losses now, rather than watch as it continues to be ignored by consumers. When Google announced the Nexus One, it seemed like it was doomed from the start. Rather than offer the device in carrier stores, Google opted to sell it online only. It also made it available exclusively to T-Mobile customers in the United States with promises of more carriers at some point in the future. Those partnerships with other carriers never materialized. And soon, Google was offering a second-rate device on a second-rate carrier. It was a recipe for disaster. But just because Google has discontinued the Nexus One doesn’t mean that the franchise is over. In fact, a new Nexus One could be announced soon. If so, here are some features that it must have to compete with Apple’s iPhone, the gold standard in the mobile marketplace.
