IMF Executive Board Completes Second and Third Reviews under Extended Fund Facility Arrangement for Albania and Approves €58.8 Million Disbursement
The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Monday completed the second and third reviews of Albania’s economic performance under a program supported by the Extended-Fund Facility (EFF). The completion of the review enables the authorities to draw an additional amount equivalent to SDR 47.1 million (about €58.8 million), bringing the total disbursements to SDR 94.2 million (about €117.7 million).

UK government gets further £500m of taxpayers’ money back from Lloyds share sales
UK Chancellor has announced that the government has sold a further £500m of Lloyds Banking Group shares through the trading plan that was launched in December 2014, taking the total amount of money recovered for the taxpayer from the bank to just under £8bn on February 23.

European Investment Bank achieved lending targets ahead of schedule: EUR 77 billion in 2014
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is delivering well ahead of schedule on commitments made to the EU Member States to mobilise EUR 180 billion of additional investment following a capital increase in 2013. “We will reach our goal of EUR 180 billion of additional investment across Europe during March 2015, around nine months earlier than anticipated”, said Werner Hoyer, President of the EIB, at a press conference in Brussels. In 2012 the EU Member States agreed to increase the EIB’s paid-in capital by EUR 10 billion, with the understanding that this would allow the EIB to increase its lending activity by 40 percent between 2012 and 2013 and maintain that level until 2015.

Employment: European Commission proposes €6 million from the Globalisation Fund to help over 2,500 road haulage and delivery workers in France
The European Commission has proposed to mobilise €6 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 2,513 former workers of Mory-Ducros in France to find new jobs. The proposal now goes to the European Parliament and the EU's Council of Ministers for approval. The redundancies were spread across 84 sites in France.

GDP Growth - Fourth Quarter 2014, Quarterly National Accounts, OECD
According to provisional estimates, growth of quarterly gross domestic product (GDP) in the OECD area slowed marginally to 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2014, down from 0.6% in the third quarter.
Amongst the Major Seven economies, GDP growth slowed most in the United States, easing to 0.7% compared with rates of 1.2% and 1.1% in the two previous quarters. Growth also slowed in the United Kingdom to 0.5%, compared with 0.7% in the previous quarter.
On the other hand, in Japan, growth picked up strongly (to 0.6% following two quarters of contractions of minus 0.6% and minus 1.7%).
