ODIHR calls for greater efforts to ensure inclusive education in joint statement with other global and regional human rights organizations

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) joined with other global and regional intergovernmental human rights organizations in calling for greater efforts to ensure inclusive education, in a statement on 13 November 2017 marking the 10th anniversary of the landmark judgment of the European Court of Human Rights on the segregation of Roma children in education.

Government of India and World Bank Sign New Agreement - Over 630,000 Students Expected to Benefit in Odisha

€2.7 billion expected for Erasmus+ in 2018

For 2018, funds available for Erasmus+ are expected to increase by more than €200 million euro, a rise of 8% compared to 2017.

The European Commission today published its 2018 Call for Proposals for Erasmus+, the European Union's programme for mobility and cooperation in education, training, youth and sport. With its annual budget expected to increase by €200 million, Erasmus+ will provide an unprecedented number of opportunities for individuals and organisations in Europe and beyond.

On 15 October 2017 in Amman, Jordan, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Muzoon Almellehan met Grade 9 Syrian girls at the Sai’ed Noureddin double shifted public school in Amman. There are over 800 Syrian students in the school.

Nearly 40 percent of American fourth-grade boys believe boys are smarter than girls

Biased views on the value of girls and their roles within the classroom and society begin to show as early as fourth grade, according to new data released by Save the Children, on October 10. The global humanitarian organization, which surveyed boys and girls in the United States and the West African nations of Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire, found that a striking number of young boys – and even many girls – believe fathers rule the household, boys are smarter than girls and girls need less school than boys.
